Ring our main switchboard number on 0161 304 8009 and follow the instructions, or call into reception to book an appointment or register for the online appointment booking service. You will be offered the first available routine appointment. This may be some time ahead. We have appointment times that are blocked in advance in order for the Doctors to triage appointments, this enables us to be able to offer an increased number of urgent appointments should this become necessary.
All our surgeries are booked 10 minute appointments. We have a range of routine and emergency surgeries available each day both in the morning and afternoon.
Please tell us if more than one person in the family needs to be seen. We can give you a longer appointment if necessary.
You can also register for our on-line access by calling in to the practice but please bring ID with you for the reception staff to enable registration.
We are also able to offer our patients appointments via the Tameside and Glossop GP HUB service. Local GPs work together to provide bookable routine evening and weekend appointments for people who may find it difficult to see their doctor or nurse during normal office hours.
These appointments can be to see a Doctor,Nurse or Health Care Assistant.
These can not be booked directly on line by the public, if you ask our receptionists they can tell you when the appointments are and will be able to book your appointment for you.
There are four HUBs, Stalybridge, Ashton, Hyde and Glossop.
Some appointments are made available every day for problems that need to be seen urgently. If you feel that your problem needs to be seen that day our reception team will ask you for details of your condition to pass onto the Doctor, the information you provide will help the Doctor to assess the urgency of the appointment. These appointments may not be with your usual doctor.
Tell us if you want someone to accompany you, or if you need a private room to discuss any matters. Our reception staff will arrange this for you.
All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required. This chaperone may be a family member or friend. On occasions you may prefer a formal chaperone to be present, ie a trained member of staff.
Your healthcare professional may also require a chaperone to be present for certain consultations in accordance with our chaperone policy.
In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many conditions and you may be seen more quickly. Louise our senior practice nurse also runs Minor Illness Clinics.
You can also book an appointment with our healthcare assistants.
You may telephone the surgery and request to speak to a doctor for advice. You will be asked for details for the request and an up to date contact number on which the doctor can speak to you if it is non-urgent. Please note that we are unable to give a specific time when the doctor will call you as he/she may be running behind, on some occassions the call may be after the evening surgery. If you wish to speak to the nurse please leave your contact details with reception and she will get back to you at her earliest convenience.
Specialist and Hospital Care
If a GP or another member of our health care team believes you need hospital treatment or specialist care elsewhere, they will ask you where and when you would like to go. The doctor will make the referral and you will be given a choice of available hospitals to suit your needs. If you would prefer to have some time to think before deciding to undertake further assessment please inform the doctor so they can record your request.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else who may need one. Even a few hours notice of a cancellation can help us in utilising surgery appointments efficiently.
