If you take medication on a long term basis you can request a repeat prescription in the following ways.

  • Online - follow the link at the top of this page to complete a simple registration.
  • In person - hand your repeat slip into reception with the required items clearly marked.
  • By post - send it to us with a stamped addressed envelope if you want us to post it back to you.
  • NHS App

Please note we do not accept requests for prescriptions over the telephone.

In some circumstances the doctor may leave you a prescription for a condition that you may have telephoned the surgery for to ask for advice.  This is at the discretion of the doctor, you may be asked to book an appointment to be seen in clinic.

To access this service for the first time you will need to register at reception. For security reasons these details can only be given to you in person, sent by sms to a verified phone number or emailed to a verified email. You will be asked to provide some form of photo identity (passport or photo driving licence). Please ask a receptionist for details. Online access (teenagers) policy: Parents or guardians of children under 11 can register on behalf of the child for online access. Access to the service will be removed when the child reaches the age of 11. Any patient can register in person to access the service on reaching the age of 16.
Your prescription can be sent electronically to your nominated chemist. If you use a regular chemist, let us know so that your prescriptions can be sent directly to them. This allows you to collect your medicines direct from your chosen pharmacy without the need to visit the surgery. Please see your pharmacist for details or ask one of our receptionists for more details
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.35
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £108.10
  • 3-month PPC: £30.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

Repeat Requests

Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
