Statement from Staveleigh Medical Centre 29th February 2024

Staveleigh Medical Centre are over the moon to announce that three additional GPs (including one trainee GP) will be joining the team.

Dr Reehan Naweed (male) will join Staveleigh from 4th March 2024 having previously worked at another local practice in the area. Dr Naweed also works locally for Stalybridge PCN in the Enhanced Access team providing appointments on evenings and weekends. Dr Hussain (female), who has recently completed her specialist GP training whilst on placement at Staveleigh Medical Centre, will join the team as a fully qualified GP from 20th March 2024. The practice will also be welcoming Dr Thamma Shahi (male) from the 4th March 2024 as a GP Trainee.

Practice Manager Martin commented “We are delighted to welcome Drs Naweed, Hussain and Shahi to the Staveleigh team. This will mean we can offer more GP appointments to our patients and get people seen quicker. With more GPs we will become more accessible and will be able to offer more same day appointments for people who need to see a GP urgently and continue to ensure anyone can see a GP for any non-urgent issue in under 2 weeks. The Doctors come to us with a diversity of interests and skills which will benefit the practice. Dr Hussain will be familiar already to many of our patients and is already one of the Staveleigh family having been on placement with us since 2021. We know Dr Naweed well and have hand picked him as we feel he fits in with the practice’s ethos and vision for providing the best care for our patients.”
